For the next two weeks, I'll be spending time on a Holy Land Pilgrimage in Israel with Ecclesia Houston and my Pastor, Chris Seay. I'll be posting daily updates at the end of every day documenting moments through photo and video. I recommend following our fellow friend + genius photographer, Kirby Trapolino, at KirbyTrapolino.com

Living Water

On our first full day of the tour we drove to Samaria + Nablus. Our first stop was the biblical site of Jacob’s well, on top of which lies a Greek Orthodox Church. I along with many others were able to draw water from the well + taste its richness. It was unbelievable to not only witness but use a well that is mentioned in the Gospel of John. (John 4:5-6) The experience is hard to put to words.

Afterwards, we walked through ancient Nablus, while stopping by to see a local and popular soap factory, enjoy a tasting tour and explore a local mosque with a dialogue with the Imam.

We ended the first part of the day with a lunch provided by a local women's center that is dedicated to empowering and training women with specific job skills.

After lunch, we then visited the breathtaking view from the Mount Gerazim, followed by a visit to Samaritans who live in the area as well as the Samaritan Museum. Our day ended at a nearby community of Har Bracha, where we were introduced to the unique locally grown wine.

You Will Never Be Thirsty Again

"but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” - John 4:14

God is seeking a gracious relationship with you and I. That is what we witness in this scene at the well. Here are 5 things I learned a few years ago about this story:

  • It’s the gift of God
If you knew the gift of God - John 4:10
  • It’s living water
He would have given you living water - John 4:10
  • If you drink it, you'll never thirst again. Ever-satisfying for our hearts + souls
Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again - John 4:14
  • This water will become a spring. Our thirst is not quenched because one drink is enough, but rather one drink produces a well for an eternity of drinks.
The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water - John 4:14
  • This water gives eternal life
. . . a spring of water welling up to eternal life. - John 4:14

He has the water of life that will satisfy our thirst. Our treasure. Ever-satisfying.
